Co-Director of College Counseling
Scheck Hillel Community School is looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Co-Director of College Counseling to guide students through the college admissions process.

The Co-Director(s) of College Counseling at Scheck Hillel Community School will play a key role in guiding and supporting high school students and their families through the college admissions process. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Director of the High School, college counseling staff, high school faculty, and other stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive college counseling program that aligns with the school's mission, values, and academic program and the mission of the College Counseling Office.
Responsibilities:
- Work with students and families to provide comprehensive college counseling services, including but not limited to, college research, application guidance, essay writing, interview preparation, and financial aid/scholarship advising.
- Develop comprehensive strategic plans to maintain/adjust quality of programming, policies and experiences aligned to mission of department
- Develop implement, and revise as needed a comprehensive college counseling curriculum that includes workshops, presentations, and individual meetings.
- Create a vision for experiences related to post-secondary pathways that include but are not limited to college fairs, college visits, and other related events on campus.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of college admissions trends and policies, financial aid opportunities, and standardized testing requirements.
- Develop marketing materials (including a school profile) that strategically highlight the school’s academic programs and extracurricular activities in light of college requirements and community needs/interests.
- Assess curriculum, identify learning goals and develop a scope and sequence for college advising in grades 9-12
- Analyze data and develop strategies to support college matriculation, successful application cycles and financial aid applications
- Build and maintain strong relationships with college admissions representatives, college counseling professionals, alumni, and other stakeholders in the college admissions process.
- Provide guidance and support to students and families as they navigate the college admissions process, including managing stress and anxiety associated with the process.
- Prepare external/internal communications/presentations regarding departmental goals, programs and progress.
- Identify and pursue professional development opportunities that support departments efforts to meet mission and professional responsibilities related to postsecondary education.
- Delegate programming and counseling responsibilities to college counselors and support staff
- Serve as a member of the High School’s Leadership team
- Support the Director of High School in other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree is required; a master's degree in counseling, education, or related field is preferred.
- At least three years of experience in college counseling or related field, preferably in an independent school setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of college admissions processes and policies, standardized testing requirements, and financial aid/scholarship opportunities.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Comfortability in coaching and managing others to support the execution of high-quality programming and counseling
- Act in accordance with the Scheck Hillel Community school’s faculty handbook and the mission statement/policies of the College Counseling Office
